Dessert from Panama: Panama Canal Dessert
Recipe of Panama Canal Dessert
This is a delicious dessert that must be done a day ahead of serving it to have its flavor at the highest point.
This is a classical dessert in Panama.
1 cup all purpose flour
½ cup of vegetable butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts (or almonds, or even chocolate chips)
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups of whipped cream
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup of cream cheese
3 cups of milk
1 package of chocolate pudding (for 4 servings, small,)
1 package of vanilla pudding (serving 4, a small one)
2 teaspoons vanilla
½ cup chopped nuts or ½ chopped almonds, or chocolate chips, (at your taste)
Make a dough with the flour, the butter and the nuts, add the baking powder. Prepare a baking dish that can be taken later on to the refrigerator and also to the table to serve the dessert out of it.
Press the flour mixture into the buttered baking dish, hard as to make a crust once it is done. Take it to the medium warm oven for 15 minutes, until this crust is golden. Let it cool completely.
Then in a bowl combine one cup of whipped cream, the cream cheese and ½ of the powered sugar. Spread this over the cooled crust.
Apart prepare with 1 ½ cups of milk, the chocolate pudding and spread it over the cheese mixture, being careful of not mixing it!
Then mix the other 1 ½ cup of milk and the vanilla cream pudding and spread it over the chocolate pudding layer, never mix them, one must go over the other.
Finally Mix thoroughly one cup of whipped cream with ½ cup of powered sugar, having this a chantilly topping, add the vanilla teaspoons and spread it on top of the vanilla pudding.
Sprinkle the nuts, or the almonds or the chocolate chips, as you prefer.
Take it to the refrigerator, and let it stand several hours. It must be done some hours before serving it, better from the day before.
Try serving it with a glass of champagne! Delicious!!!!!!!!
