Recipe of Honduran dessert: Honduran Torrejas
1 1/3 cup of brown sugar (white sugar can be used as well)
1 1/3 cup of water
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
12 small dry toasts (or ladyfingers can be used as well)
Making the syrup:
Boil the water, sugar and cinnamon in a pan for about ten minutes, until the syrup is well formed. It should be a sticky mixture, but don’t touch it with your hands, burning with this may be very dangerous!
Arrange all the toasts together flat, in a baking dish
Pour the syrup over and let it stand some minutes, so the liquid enters into the toasts. Serve them hot. They are delicious with the coffee. If you make them with ladyfingers, they are to be taken after the meal, and are delicious with a cool glass of pink wine!
