Dessert from Honduras: Baked bananas
Recipe of Honduran baked bananas
1/3 cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
milk, (enough to cover the bananas)
Cut the bananas in halves. Butter a baking dish thoroughly and place the bananas flat in them. Sprinkle the sugar mixed with the cinnamon over the bananas, and don’t move them. Over pour the milk, so that the bananas get all covered with the milk, over the milk drop little cubes of butter, scattered all over.
Cover with foil for the first five minutes of medium heat oven. (some 380º). Then uncover and let the cook until brown on top.
Be careful that this may spill during the first minutes, maybe place underneath an extra bigger baking dish to preserve the oven from the milk.
This dessert can be served hot, adding some cool vanilla cream on the side, or cold as it is or serving in the same dish vanilla ice cream. Just delicious!
